Our founders, Jon & Joy, grew up in the UK and Thailand respectively, Jon having been working in Paris and being transferred to Richmond by the Insurance company he was working for at the time, Joy coming to the US In 2006 as an au pair. In 2019, they established "Thai Won On" as a mobile operation selling Thai food from their food truck
Our founders, Jon & Joy, grew up in the UK and Thailand respectively, Jon having been working in Paris and being transferred to Richmond by the Insurance company he was working for at the time, Joy coming to the US In 2006 as an au pair. In 2019, they established "Thai Won On" as a mobile operation selling Thai food from their food truck. In 2022, they expanded to their brick and mortar restaurant in Short Pump and introduced a limited British menu. Within three months the British food sales were matching the sales of their Thai food. With the newfound popularity, they decided to explore opportunities for expansion. When an opportunity for a new location came up in early 2024 in Downtown Richmond "The British Embassy" was born.
At the British Embassy, we offer a variety of dishes, including our famous fish and chips, both Cod and Haddock, along with other British classics such as sausage rolls, Scotch Eggs, British Sausages and Sticky toffee pudding. we will also carry a number of British grocery items that will be bought in subject to space and availability.
